New educational technologies – online learning and education platform

An e-learning system is an open web application based on a dedicated platform for the development of pupils, students or employees.

With the educational platform, you can remotely teach and monitor the learning of students from all over the world. Plugins play an important role in the platform – modules help redesign and extend the functionality of the system.

The platforms have a complex learning organization and this section is divided into three parts: course development, support, and organization.

The system has an editor that allows you to create lectures, polls, assignments and tests. These content types are created from text, images, video and audio files uploaded by the administrator to the platform.

The main thing at the venues is the lecture. In a lecture, you teach a student a theory of a subject. For example, explain to a customer how to sell a new product to your company. At the end of the lecture, you can put a mark on the test, after which the student consolidates the material read, the lecture is considered a completed curriculum.

Each course consists of topics filled with ready-made content: lectures, tests, new courses, etc. The topics act as distribution buttons and you can use them to create a flexible learning path.

SCORM is a collection of specifications and standards developed for distance learning systems. Contains requirements for the organization of educational material and the entire distance learning system.

As a result:

  • Courses consist of topics;
  • Topics include ready-made practical materials: lecture, test, SCORM package. (The SCORM package is a zip archive containing all study materials. In addition, the LMS not only provides students with access to these materials, but also stores all learning statistics);
  • Training materials are created in an internal editor or uploaded to the platform;

The best example is coursera portal. Coursera is a huge online project founded by Stanford University computer science professors Andrew Yin and Daphne Koller. There is also a project to publish free online courses and training materials on the Internet. For more information: https: //www.coursera.com
