The national Institute for strategic studies (NISI) and the international organization “Internet Society” (ISOC) plan to jointly develop the Internet in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported in the press service of the Institute.
The Director of NISI met with the leadership of ISOC Jane coffin and Kyle Shulmanov at the headquarters of the organization in Washington.
Sultanov noted the need for the development of the Internet and high technologies in Kyrgyzstan and the importance of building an economic model of the country’s development based on the knowledge economy. He also spoke about the achievements of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of high technologies and communications.
“Kyrgyzstan plans to become not only a hub for the physical movement of people and goods, but also a high-tech hub for Internet communications and virtual movement of services. The country has all the prerequisites for the development of the knowledge economy: an educated population, a free political regime, a favorable economic climate,” the NISI noted.
Jane coffin expressed great interest in working with NISI and the CD. In particular, several potential interesting projects were noted, such as:
– establishment of a country or regional Internet exchange point (IXP);
– launch of a project to provide wireless Internet access to residents of mountainous and remote areas;
– provision of grants and equipment for the development of the Internet in the country;
– opening of the ISOC country office in the region.
For the official launch of cooperation, it is planned to sign a Memorandum of cooperation in Bishkek during an international conference in early December.
NISI KR and ISOC have planned an international conference on the theme: “Central Asian Internet dialogue”. The event is also planned in conjunction with the National center for information technology and the Central Asian research and education network CAREN.
The conference of this level is held for the first time in Central Asia.recognized professionals in the field of modern information technologies from Europe and Asia expressed their readiness to participate in its work.
