Project «Improving digital skills in local communities» launched in Kyrgyzstan

On December 10, 2023, with the financial support of the Internet Society Public Foundation, the project «Improving digital skills in local communities» was launched in the Kyrgyz Republic. The project is being implemented by the Kyrgyz Branch of the Internet Society in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, the State Enterprise «Tunduk» and the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Cooperation agreements have been signed and are in effect with all of the above institutions. On December 26, 2023, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Director of the State Enterprise Tunduk Chyngyz Amantayev and the Chairman of the Kyrgyz branch of the Internet Society Talant Sultanov. At the meeting, the details of the project were discussed and government agencies expressed support for its implementation.

The goal of the project is to improve the digital literacy of local communities, including remote regions of the country. All these skills will help improve overall digital literacy in the country, actively participate in the public life of the country, potentially in political processes (for example, in elections) and improve citizens’ digital capabilities and expand their rights in the field of access to information. To achieve this goal, it is planned to develop training materials, including video materials and update textbooks on digital literacy. The materials, in particular, will explain how to obtain an electronic digital signature, how to register in the Unified Identification System; basic digital literacy skills, such as registration and use of e-mail for educational and work purposes (an e-mail address is required to register in the EIS, obtain an EDS, etc.).
